Overview
The 2010 Cadillac DTS is ideal for buyers who want traditional American big-car virtues of space and a comfortable ride. The DTS offers a Northstar V8 engine, good performance, and a spacious cabin with an appealing ambience. Stability control comes standard on the base model. The Cadillac DTS luxury sedan is available in three trims with varying levels of refinement: Base, Performance, and Platinum. Two new color choices have been added for 2010 and the ultra-luxury DTS Platinum Edition returns, loaded with premium features and special paint options that represent the fullest extent of Cadillac?s elegance.
Powertrain And Performance
While the Base DTS and Platinum trims are equipped with a 4.6L Northstar V8 that pumps out 275 horsepower, the Performance trim is powered by the Northstar V8 NHP engine that generates 288 lb-ft of torque and 292 hp,. All DTS sedans are teamed with a four-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The Performance trim receives recalibrated transmission shift programming for faster shift responses. Considering its heft, the DTS powers effortlessly while the suspension offer a soft ride. The Performance model's Magnetic Ride Control suspension makes for better ride quality.
Build And Styling
The DTS seats five or six passengers in a roomy cabin with soft leather bucket seats, and plenty of legroom in the rear seat; the six-passenger version gets a 40/20/40 leather bench. The trunk offers nearly 19-cubic-foot of cargo space. The navigation system and other controls are user-friendly and easy to operate. The front bucket seats with Tuscany leather seating surfaces, 8-way power adjustment, and 4-way power lumbar control are standard across all trims. Front heated and cooled bucket seats are standard in Performance and Platinum trims only. Tri-zone automatic climate control with individual climate settings for driver, front passenger, and back seats is standard except for Base V8, which offers a standard dual-zone climate control system. Bi-functional xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) front headlamps are standard in all trims. While the Base V8 and Platinum trims have been equipped with standard 9-spoke 17-inch wheel, the Performance trim offers 9-spoke 18-inch wheels.
Safety Features
Standard are include standard 4-wheel 4-channel anti-lock braking system with dynamic rear proportioning; speed-sensitive magnasteer steering; all-speed traction control; and StabiliTrac computer-controlled 4-channel electronic stability control system with brake assist and tire pressure monitoring system. In addition, the DTS is also equipped with standard driver and right front passenger frontal dual stage air bags; dual depth for right front passenger, side impact air bags; and head curtain side air bags for outboard first-row and outboard second-row passengers. The radar based adaptive cruise control system is available as an option for the Performance and Platinum trims.
